OUR STORY
CAPTIVATING COONAWARRA WINES
Our history stretches back to 1867, after Scottish immigrant John Riddoch arrived at Penola in South Australia and purchased parcels of land throughout Coonawarra, impressed with the remarkable rate of growth of fruit trees and vines in the area, and commissioned the building of his ‘Woolshed’ which still stands today at Katnook.
OUR HOME
KATNOOK ESTATE CELLAR DOOR
Today our Cellar Door offers wine tastings and cheese platters. Our lounge area with an open fire in winter is the perfect place to unwind. Adjacent to the Cellar Door is our award winning 'terra rossa pit. Here you can see Coonawarra' s famous soil profile and learn why it is so critical to wine flavour.

Coonawarra Vignerons Association acknowledges the Pinechunga people as Traditional Custodians of the land on which the Coonawarra Wine Region stands today. We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs and ongoing connections to land, water and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
